One of my favorite things to do is brainstorm. To take a client brief and bring it to light with a smart, simple idea that 'has legs'. The best ideas are always the ones that don't need explaining. The intersection of a strategic idea and strong design is the ultimate sweet spot. The following are a few examples of ideas worth noticing. A few even won some awards, so others noticed them, too.
Art.sy was a website launched in 2010 as a "library catalog" of millions of pieces of art. Working with the idea of genomes, every piece of art was given thousands of identifying "markers". Art.sy became a world to simply do one thing - find art. Users could click "abstract", find a query of pieces filed under that marker, and upon clicking on one, see the other markers tagged with that painting. It was easy to start a query with "abstract" and ultimately end up with a piece related to it under "photorealism". Think a bit of the movie Inception, if you will.
Not an easy website concept to explain, our campaign focused on explaining how cool the site was without using words. We proposed digital solutions, as it was a website and found users accessing it at various digital touch points in their day.
Revolving ads showcasing a work of art related to the album cover of the song currently playing to quite literally find art from other types of art.
Remade a work of art in a mosaic from QR codes with 6 working codes embedded. Scanning a code takes a user to a related work of art on Art.sy. Works placed in high traffic areas at blown up sizes to stand out and interact with.
Users can further explore the Art.sy app with an Instagram integration. Selecting an uploaded photo in the Art.sy tab on Instagram will allow users to scroll through artwork on the site related to the chosen photo.
Campaign brief was for the One Show Competition. Stride challenged students to come up with a digital solution for the idea "fuels non-stop nonsense." Our idea was that buying Stride gum lets users score an absurd amount of points to shock their opponent during a Words with Friend game.
Activate a code, play an Absurd Word, and spread the nonsense!

The idea around an OFF! campaign was that OFF! protects your personal space - from bugs, yes. But we thought we could run with that in interesting, relevant ways. In this case, an App to help you protect that personal space. OFF! knows you love Facebook, but sometimes need some time away from the pressure of checking in. The OFF! Hideout wants to help protect that personal space by letting you enjoy your Facebook friendships from a distance.
